This is the first time I have seen a paint brush used in pencil drawing. What a great tip for shadowing the drawing! Thank you for your excellent use of time, your talent, and educational tips.

Thanks for showing the portrait drawing technique. I have always been asked, how one can do it, and I never could explain it, just telling them that one needs to like and have interest in people, especially the one, who one wants to draw the portrait from… 😉
If you make the eye round and the nosehole a little bit smaller and rounder and place the mouth in the middle and draw it also a little bit smaller, it looks just perfect – like her on the photo.

First time viewer Kirsty, you are amazing, loved every part of the tutorial, i am 63 and only just taking up Art, you talk so well giving many tips that would take time to learn, not hoping to reach your standard but will be happy to draw a face that looks like a face(smile),thanks again Kirsty i have subscribed and will watch your other tutorials as well, Norman

A good tip: buy a pack of tortillons and blending stumps. Blending stumps can be sharpened with sandpaper and provide cleaner, more precise blending than a q-tip or brush. They're usually made from newsprint and cost at most a few dollars.

question, Do you ever get a lot of residue from the pencils on the side of your hand and have it smudge onto your drawing? if so how do you stop that happening?

Really beautiful technique–impressed at the lack of under-sketching! Wanted to ask, since it's a term I don't think I've heard before (and maybe this is in your eye video), but what do you mean by the "water line"? Is it the inner edge of the lower eyelid? Thanks again!

another dont that most artists do is when the go in and draw the eye they dont pay attention to which way it flick. some eye flick up on the outer side and some flick down. its a small mistake i see in alot of drawing (especially mine. lol)
